One of the hotter teams on the recruiting trail during the month of June has been Colorado. The Buffaloes have pushed their commitment total from four to 12 in the 2017 class landing commitments from Texas, Colorado, and California. The Buffaloes got their potential quarterback of the future in Tyler Lytle on June 21 and then added another weapon to the Buffaloes offensive attack six days later in Maurice Bell.

Bell was one of the breakout stars in the 2017 class during the 2015 season. The 6’0”, 175 pound, speedster hauled in 51 passes for 956 yards with 16 scores and shinned on special teams with 160 kick return yards for Murrieta Valley (Murrieta, CA).

The Buffaloes were able to keep Bell away from other top schools to extend offers that includes Iowa, Arizona State, Nebraska, New Mexico, UNLV, Washington State, Michigan, Boston College, and Arizona. During a late April interview with RNG, Bell spoke highly about an unofficial visit to Colorado sharing, “It was a lot of fun. I met with the coaches and they talked to me about where I would be placed at within their system. I was impressed with what they had to say and with the program.”

Colorado has quietly, and quickly, put together a very formidable offensive attack that should help drive opposing Pac-12 defensive coordinators mad for years to come. Bell joins Texas four-star 2017 verbal commit wide receivers Laviska Shenault (DeSoto) and Jaylon Jackson (Cedar Hill) as a pass catching trio that will spread out defenses keeping teams honest in Colorado’s wide-open offense.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I caught up with Bell after his announcement to get the inside story on how Colorado landed the California product.
