The Terrapins suffered a big loss in their 2017 recruiting class on Tuesday when IMG Academy five-star defensive end Joshua Kaindoh decommitted.

IMG Academy finished off a second consecutive undefeated season going 11-0 in 2016 taking on one of if not the toughest schedule in the nation. The Ascenders are no ordinary team with a roster filled with top talent from around the nation. One of the key players on their roster is defensive end Joshua Kaindoh.

The 6-6, 256 pound, end committed to his home state school in April which was a surprise then after listing his Top 4 of Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State. Kaindoh has left his recruitment open taking official visits to Florida State (Oct. 14) and Penn State (Nov. 25) with a scheduled visit to Georgia upcoming (Dec. 2) after visiting Maryland on Oct. 1. From the outside looking in, the Nittany Lions might be the team to beat going forward. Early speculation had Kaindoh headed to Ohio State joining teammates Isaiah Pryor (safety) and Marcus Williamson (cornerback) in Columbus.

Maryland fans found out about the bad news on Twitter with a posted statement reading:

Kaindoh has already announced he will be making his final decision on Jan. 1 at the Under Armour All-American game.

On the field, Kaindoh was limited to eight games after suffering an arm injury. Through the eight games he compiled 41 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, picked up a fumble, and forced a fumble.

247Sports rates Maryland’s class No. 17 in the nation, No. 3 in the Big Ten. Rivals rates the Terrapins class No. 13 in the country with three four-star recruits.
