Interview

Mark, how are your offseason workouts coming along?

“They are coming along well. We had our first day of spring ball on Thursday. The tempo was good. With Ground Zero, we are in the Adidas 7v7 National Championship Tournament on Saturday. Overall, everything is going good.”

Where are you seeing the biggest improvements in your game?

“My speed. I’ve been running on a speed treadmill, that has helped. My eye discipline has improved and I’m getting more comfortable in my stance.”

Which camps and/or combines have you competed at this spring?

“I went to a Rivals camp and the Nike Opening in LA.”

How did the Nike camp go?

“It went well. I ran a 4.59 and posted a 38-inch vertical. During one on ones, I did well. I went about eight times. I lost two reps but won all the others.”

Honesty about a camp performance. I like it. In all my years, you might be the first person to lose a rep at a camp.

(Laughs) “I have no reason to lie. You have to keep working to get better.”

You did well during the one-on-ones, what did you do well going against the top receivers there to showcase your talents?

“I showed them my speed, they liked that, and they liked how I finished each play.”

Do you have any other camps or combines scheduled for this spring or summer?

“Not for spring, but this summer I am most likely going to the USC, UCLA, Oregon, maybe Washington, and the Redlands camps.”

If you will, update me on your recruiting interest.

“Right now, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, Washington State, and Wyoming are all showing interest.”

Do you have any planned visits coming up?

“On April 13th, I am going to Arizona State, on April 14th I am going to Arizona, and on April 21 I am going to Oregon.”

What has you excited about visit ASU?

“I am excited to meet the coaching staff and see the facilities. I want to see the team’s tempo in practice and see their schemes.”

What about Arizona, what has you excited about visiting the Wildcats?

“I am excited to meet Coach (Demetrice) Martin (cornerbacks). I heard he is a great coach. I didn’t get to meet him when he was at UCLA. I am looking forward to building a relationship with him.”

Do you know of any colleges planning to be on the sidelines for a practice this spring at Rancho Cucamonga?

“I don’t know yet.”

Have you set any goals for yourself for spring football?

“My goal is to be a better leader. I want to show all the young dudes about setting a good example – I want to be a good role model on and off the field.”

Mark, thanks for your time today and good luck with all your upcoming visits.

“Thank you.”
