Central Arkansas got on the recruiting board on Saturday with a commitment from Goose Creek Memorial High School wide receiver/free safety Deandre Herman.

Herman has been knocking heads against tough Texas 6A competition since his sophomore season. On offense, during his first two seasons at the varsity level, he has shown his breakaway speed lining up on the outside and in the slot pulling down passes for the Patriots. The 5-11, 170 pound, speedster is also a threat returning punts.

The Patriots are using Herman at quarterback this season hoping to utilize his all-around athleticism with the ball in his hands the entire game. In Goose Creek’s opening game he connected on four pass attempts for 24 yards and carried the ball 14 times for 76 more yards.

Herman, from the Baytown area, sided with UCA over offers from Army, Yale, McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar, and Colorado State. The news for Bears fans went public with a post by Herman on Twitter:
