Louisiana High School Football Week 4 Preview

Highlighted Week 4 Matchups

C.E. Byrd Yellow Jackets (2-1) at Haughton Buccaneers (2-1)

Last week Byrd suffered a 22-9 road loss at Sulphur while Haughton lost a 32-24 heart-breaker to Woodlawn. This will be the district opener for both squads with both teams wanting to start district play with a victory.

The Yellow Jackets rushed for a total of 224 yards last week and is led on offense by senior running back Jalin Thomas and sophomore quarterback Cameron Felt. Two players to watch on defense is defensive back Parker Brooks and defensive lineman Trayvious Johns.

Haughton is led by quarterback Cameron Townsend who threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns last week. Another offensive weapon to watch is wide receiver Tristan Sweeny who caught both touchdown passes and snagged 174 receiving yards. Two Buccaneers to watch on defense is Matthew White and Riley Wallis.

Parkway Panthers (1-2) at Evangel Christian Eagles (1-1)

In Week 3, Parkway was crushed 62-21 by Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas, while Evangel had their game with Trinity Christian (TX) cancelled. The Panthers are without two of their stars, four-star quarterback Justin Rogers (torn ACL) and five-star wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (fractured fibula). Parkway is now led by junior quarterback Amani Larry who threw for 135 yards and had two total touchdowns, one in the air and one on the ground. Another leader is senior Israel Mukuamu, a four-star Florida State commit, who can make plays on both sides of the ball.

Evangel is led on offense by running back Tamauge Sloan and sophomore quarterback Blake Shapen. The Eagles have a lockdown defensive unit which includes two LSU commits, Ardarius Washington and Micah Baskerville. Evangel will be ready to get back on the field after receiving an unexpected bye week.

North DeSoto Griffins (3-0) at Northwood Falcons (2-1)

Last Friday North DeSoto got past Many 21-12 while Northwood destroyed Plain Dealing 42-0. The Griffins are led by senior wide receiver Maguire Parker who can also make plays rushing the ball. Another offensive weapon is junior running Aubrey Scott who torched Many for 205 rushing yards and three touchdowns. North Desoto has a lockdown defense that forced five turnovers last week.

Northwood has used their balanced offensive attack led by quarterback Luke Bogan to put up impressive numbers through the first three weeks of the season. Bogan has completed 33-of-48 passes for 693 yards with 12 touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Detraveon Brown is one of Bogan’s favorite targets leading the team in receiving yards. Another offensive weapon is senior running back Malik Wilson.
