Louisville added their eleventh defensive commit in the 2017 recruiting class on Monday pulling cornerback Russ Yeast out of Indiana.

Yeast, the son of former Kentucky wide receiver standout Craig Yeast, transferred in the off-season to Center Grove helping the Trojans to an 8-1 start to their 2016 season. The Trojans have become one of the top teams in the state of Indiana with Yeast rushing for 964 yards off 125 carries with 10 scores. In the passing attack, the 5-10.5, 178 pound, speedster has added 356 yards off 19 receptions with five more scores. Yeast has showcased his speed and shiftiness in the open field adding 170 kick return yards off nine attempts and 141 punt return yards off seven attempts.

Kentucky initially earned the Wildcat legacy’s verbal commitment but had a change of heart on June 16 after being committed since July 2015. The three-star recruit posted his Louisville commitment statement on Twitter:

After taking official visits to Auburn and Iowa, Yeast committed to Louisville two days after taking an official with the Cardinals. Offers on the table were not in short supply with Alabama, Maryland, Washington State, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Indiana, Cincinnati, Iowa State, and Nebraska being among the many hoping to land the versatile recruit.

Yeast is the fourth commit Louisville has secured in October; Colin Wilson, Mitch Hall, and Jabreel Stephens. Rivals ranks the Cardinals class No. 19 in the country while 247Sports rates the group No. 28, No. 6 in the ACC.
