The Hurricanes added their 21st recruit to their 2017 class on Tuesday when in-state three-star center Corey Gaynor committed.

Gaynor was part of a Stoneman Douglas High School team that posted a 6-4 record in 2016. The 6-4, 282 pound, lineman butted heads against some of the top talent Florida has to offer in the 8A classification leading to nearly 20 scholarship offers. Among the many hoping to land Gaynor included Pitt, Louisiana-Monroe, FAU, FIU, South Florida, Marshall, Idaho, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Central Florida, and West Virginia.

The Hurricanes recruitment of Gaynor came on quick. The Pompano Beach area product was offered by Miami during an official visit over Thanksgiving weekend landing his announced commitment just three days later. The win for Miami was a loss for the Golden Gophers. Minnesota secured a commitment from Gaynor on July 21, about a week after receiving an offer. The Golden Gophers hosted Gaynor on an official visit Sept. 9.

Gaynor made his announcement on Twitter posting, “I’m staying home! #squad17

Rivals ranks Miami’s 2017 recruiting class No. 10 in the nation with five four-star recruits and 14 three-star talents.
