Ole Miss bumped their 2017 recruiting class back to 11 verbal commitments after receiving a pledge from Texas defensive end Ryder Anderson on Monday. The new addition gives the Rebels a defensive talent with a lot of upside while stealing one away from a SEC West foe.

Anderson was part of Katy High School’s 10-3 season in 2016 that made a three-game run into the playoffs before losing a tough 20-17 game to North Shore on Friday (Nov. 25). The 6-7, 230 pound, end saw a big push with his recruitment over the summer committing to the Arkansas Razorbacks on June 23, three days after taking an unofficial to Fayetteville. Other teams to offer Anderson includes Boise State, Colorado, Harvard, Liberty, Fresno State, Yale, Tulane, SMU, Central Florida, and Memphis.

Arkansas and Ole Miss fans found out about the news on Twitter with Anderson posting:

The Rebels had been quiet on the recruiting trail for several weeks but have started to gain momentum with Anderson’s commitment and RJ Sneed’s pledge on Nov. 13. Anderson’s addition to the class replaces the decommitment of Jones County JUCO defensive end Markel Winters. Winters decommitted on Nov. 13.

247Sports ranks the Rebels 2017 class No. 54 in the nation, No. 13 in the SEC.
