When Sierra Canyon junior quarterback Niko Harris drops back into the pocket he has a talented corps of four receivers he can count on to make a big play to help move the chains or put the ball into the end zone. One of his reliable wide outs is senior Christian Graves.

Graves is a 6’2”, 193 pound, jack-of-all trades on the outside. The Class of 2016 recruit has 11 receptions on the year for 150 yards with two scores but delivers for the Trailblazers beyond the stat line helping the team to a 5-0 record thus far on the season.

College coaches have taken notice to Graves beyond his ideal height and weight along with his ability to come down with the ball from anywhere on the field, but another thing that stands out is his willingness to work in the run game – a stat that does not show up on any sheet. One can tell Graves enjoys the physical nature of the position even when the ball is not coming to him but coming his way. He routinely overpowers his defender opening up a running lane for other receivers or for his tailbacks for big gains down field.

Next level programs showing interest in the Los Angeles area recruit include UCLA, Nevada, UNLV, Colorado, Colorado State, Sacramento State, and Michigan State. All colleges taking that wait-and-see approach with a recruit want to see said player’s early season or mid-season highlight reel. When watching Graves’ mid-season reel, coaches will be treated to one-handed catches, Graves finding holes in the zone, pancake blocks for teammates downfield, adjusting to the ball in the air, dragging across the middle, and the talented receiver picking the corner fade route off his back shoulder for a score – just a few things on Graves mid-season highlight reel.
