UCLA secured their first secondary commitment in the 2017 class on Tuesday when Chris Wilson pledged to the Bruins.

With Wilson, Bruins’ defensive backs coach, Coach Demetrice Martin, is bringing some Texas Class 6A grizzled talent to Westwood. The 6’0”, 186 pound, cornerback was a key player for Dickinson High School’s 12-2 season in 2015. The Gators made it into the fourth round of the playoffs before falling to North Shore.

In the off-season Wilson transferred to Hitchcock High School, another power in the Lone Star State. Hitchcock High School won the 3A UIL State Championship with a 61-50 shootout title win over Hallettsiville last season.

The Bruins offered Wilson on July 23, becoming the three-star talent’s fourth offer. UCLA picking up Wilson’s commitment was a big win over SEC West powerhouse Texas A&M.

UCLA’s 2017 class is now back up to four commitments after losing Cathedral High School defensive end earlier in the week.
