Greenbrier had a successful run last fall finishing the 2021 season 12-1 reaching the Arkansas state semifinals. Their offense helped propel the team to this achievement by scoring 42 points per game. One major contributor to that attack was wide receiver Carter McElhany.

McElhany snagged 32 passes for 786 yards and 10 touchdowns last season bringing in offers from Army and Air Force. The 2023 prospect is on the radar of several other college coaches and programs with more offers expected.

McElhany plays with great speed and quickness reporting a 4.35 time in the 40-yard dash. He also possesses good hands and plays with toughness.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Carter to talk about his successful junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

What are your thoughts on your junior season in 2021?

My junior season as a whole went well. I ended up averaging a little over 24-yards per catch.

How would you grade your individual performance in 2021?

I would give myself a B grade. There were some things I could have done better.

What are your strengths on the football field?

My biggest strengths would be stretching the field deep, catching the short routes and turning them in something big.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

4.35.

Have you attended camps this offseason?

I’ve been to five camps so far with plans to go to a Central Arkansas camp and Arkansas State camp.

What kind of feedback are you receiving about your football skills?

Most of the feedback I’ve gotten is about my route running. One of the weaker parts of my game is getting in and out of breaks.

Are you drawing interest from any colleges at this time?

I’ve been in contact with some coaches, but I’d prefer to keep those private at this time.

Do you have any college offers?

Army and Air Force.

How are your preparing for your senior season?

I’ve been working on my route running. I feel like my game go to the next level if my route running improves.

What are your goals for your senior season?

1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns are my personal goals and I also want a lot of team success.

How do your skills fit into your team’s offense?

We run a spread offense so being able to move the ball around to anyone really helps. I move around the offense playing slot, wide out and some running back.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Cooper Kupp.

What is your GPA?

My GPA is 3.71.

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

My favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 5:20.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you, sir.
