Full season stats have not been released for Tydrelon Curry, but know that the speedy Class of 2021 talent turned in a dynamic season for Block High School in 2019. One can extrapolate from a four-game stat line for the Bears just how impressive after seeing their running back/slot receiver carry the rock 27 times for 327 yards with two scores and one 18-yard reception; he was that blur opposing Louisiana defenses could not keep up with on the field. In addition to his work on offense and special teams, Curry (5-8, 163) is adding defensive duties to his itinerary for his senior campaign.

In an RNG exclusive interview, I sat down with rising Jonesville area product for insight on his game while covering his offseason workout goals.

Interview

Dre, the Bears ran a unique offense during the 2019 season, looks like a Wing-T set. What offense were you guys running and where all were you lining up within the offense?

“We ran a double-wing. I was lining up on the left side of the wing in the backfield.”

The coaches were calling some jet sweeps and inside pulls for you, what were some of the other ways they were getting the rock into your hands?

“They let me go out for passes and put me in the slot. They let me use my speed because no one can catch up with me; my cousin would throw it to me. We also ran a 47-crisscross and 56-crisscross to get me the ball.”

Which routes were you running out of the slot?

“Post, fly, and sometimes I’d do a slant. I like posts because I can use my speed.”

One thing about your skills out of the backfield that stands out is your speed. How fast are you?

“I’m around a 4.5.”

Last season, which was your best game?

“Against La Salle High School.”

Why did you pick that game?

“I had so many yards. They couldn’t hang with me. I had two touchdowns that game.”

Given all the experience gained in 2019, how did your overall talents improve?

“They improved a lot. My vision got better. I got better at seeing my holes and being aggressive. I was hitting the hole hard every time.”

Going into the 2020 season, are you taking on any new roles during your senior year?

“This season I will most likely be playing corner or linebacker. On offense, I am staying at running back.”

With all that you will be doing in 2020, what are you working on this offseason with your game?

“My speed, my moves, being shifty, and getting my legs right with my strength.”

Are you playing any additional varsity sports for Block?

“I am trying baseball this year.

Dre, thanks for your time today and good luck with the rest of your offseason workouts and the baseball season.

“Thank you.”
