Jeremiah Williams had a monster sophomore season for Ramsey High School becoming one of the top rising stars in the state of Alabama. After the 2018 season where he racked 72 total tackles including 15 for a loss, 11 sacks and three forced fumbles against 5A competition, Williams was named All-State, earned four-star recruiting status, and the offers started rolling in for this junior phenom. The class of 2021 superstar currently holds 16 offers including Auburn and LSU and is also drawing interest from other big-time programs like Alabama. Not only is Williams starring on the field but also in the classroom where he has 3.8 GPA and enjoys math class.

The 6’4”, 220-pound, defensive playmaker helped lead Ramsay to a 11-2 record in 2018 and with most of his teammates returning they look to help lead the Rams even further into the postseason in 2019.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview I sat down with Jeremiah to discuss his high school career and crazy recruiting process.

Interview

Jeremiah, what are your thoughts on the 2018 season?

“The 2018 season was a step in the right direction because we made it to the third round of the playoffs and we’re bringing a lot of players back so we all have experience.”

What are your thoughts on your individual performance last year?

“I saw myself grow as a player. I was way better than my freshman year and I think I made an impact for my team.”

What was your most memorable moment last season?

“The most memorable moment was a clutch sack against Wenonah. That put the dagger in the game.”

Did you win any individual honors?

“I was first team All-City and first team All-State.”

Do you have any college offers?

“Yes, sir. I have 16 including LSU and Clemson.”

Williams’ Offer Sheet: Alabama-Birmingham, Auburn, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia

Are there any other schools showing you interest?

“Yes sir. I am receiving interest from Michigan State, Alabama, and Penn State.”

Have you been on any college visits?

“Yes, sir. I have been to Auburn, Georgia Tech, and LSU so far.”

What are your strengths on the football field?

“I have a quick first step that allows me to be a speedy pass rusher. I am a constant threat to a quarterback’s passing game and I can the stop the run too. Also, I can drop in coverage.”

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

“4.6.”

What is your GPA?

“3.8.”

What is your favorite subject in school?

“Math.”

Do you play any other sports?

“I also play basketball.”

Which current NFL player do you compare yourself too?

“Honestly, I can say Jadeveon Clowney (Houston Texans) and T.J. Watt (Pittsburg Steelers).”

What are your individual and team goals for your senior season?

“An individual goal would be to become quicker and more flexible so I can make more athletic plays. A team goal is to win state.”

What game on the new schedule are you most looking forward to playing and why?

“The game I’m looking forward to playing is the first against Minor (Adamsville) because there is a lot on the line. We’re trying to prove last year’s win (13-8) wasn’t a fluke and they’re trying to prove last year’s loss was a fluke. So, there is a lot on the line.”

Thank you for your time and good luck this season.

“Thank you, sir.”
