Bryson Bonds has been one of the leaders for the Crowley Eagles over the past several seasons as the senior star has racked numerous individual honors and huge numbers on the stat board throughout his career. Saturday night, Bonds officially put an end to his Crowley career as he verbally committed to play college football at Indiana University over 25 other reported scholarship offers.

During his senior season, the defensive playmaker posted 115 total tackles, 11 pass break-ups, eight tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one sack and one blocked field goal helping his team to a 9-2 record against 5A Texas teams. According to 247Sports, Bonds is the 139th ranked player in the Lone Star State and the 67th best safety prospect in the country.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Bryson shortly after his commitment to discuss how it all transpired.

Interview

Bryson, first off, congratulations on your commitment to Indiana.

“Thank you.”

When did you make your final decision?

“Last night (Saturday) when I was on my official visit. I just got back today.”

Which coach did you make your commitment announcement too?

“Head coach Tom Allen and safeties Coach Kasey Teegardin.”

What was their reaction to your commitment?

“They were ecstatic about my decision and were very happy about it.”

What did you like most about the campus and the atmosphere?

“I enjoy the energy of the community. Everyone is so kind and supportive, and you can tell that the whole city of Bloomington is in full support of the university.”

What do you want your final legacy to be at Crowley High School?

“I don’t necessarily want a legacy at Crowley but at the same time I want to show the upcoming kids that it is possible to make it out and it is possible to chase and achieve your dreams no matter what. Even if you are from Crowley and nobody really knows about it, there are still ways to get on the map.”

Thank you for your time and congratulations again.

“Thank you, sir.”
