Iowa Class of 2016 offensive guard Jake Heinrich announces decision date

Wednesday night at 6 p.m. central time, Urbandale, Iowa offensive guard Jake Heinrich announced his decision date via Twitter. The day is Saturday July 4th, but the exact time was not provided.

The 6’4”, 285 pound, lineman has offers from Cal, Duke, Eastern Michigan, Kansas State, Louisville, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, UNLV, and Marshall but is reportedly down to Oregon, Arkansas, and Iowa State as his top three schools.

In a previous interview with Heinrich, before his unofficial visit to Arkansas on June 6, he characterized the Hogs as “a team on the rise” and stated that head coach Bret Bielema and offensive line coach Sam Pittman “have a great history of developing offensive linemen.”

When speaking about Iowa State Heinrich added, “I always have a good time when I go up there.” Continuing speaking about the Cyclones’ program he stated, “Iowa State, they are really able to push location, I’m only about 40 minutes away. If I went there I could go home every night if I wanted to.” Heinrich also said, “I’ve built a great relationship with the (ISU) coaches.”

The Ducks are a late entry into the recruiting race extending an offer on June 16.
