Iowa had another successful campaign in Kirk Ferentz’s 22nd season as head coach of the Hawkeyes finishing 6-2 during the shortened season. Heading into the postseason, the Hawkeyes were then slated to battle Missouri in the Music City Bowl, but that was scrapped due to a virus outbreak within the Tigers program. The biggest victory for Iowa came on Dec. 12 defeating No. 16 Wisconsin 28-7. The 6-2 finish was good enough to finish second in the Big Ten West Division just behind Northwestern.

The Hawkeyes are a contender in their division every year but haven’t made the conference championship game since 2015 and have not won the Big Ten since 2004. Can the 2021 recruiting class help change the on-the-field fortunes?

Iowa believes they are on the rise locking up another solid recruiting class in the early signing period. The class has the promise in talent to help them get back to the conference title game. In all, the Hawkeyes received 17 letters of intent from talented recruits all over the Midwest.

The highest-rated recruit is four-star offensive tackle David Davidkov, who is the number one prospect from the state of Illinois. Three-star athlete Arland Bruce IV and three-star wide receiver Brody Brecht, who were teammates at Ankeny High School, will be teammates once again in Iowa City as both signed last month.

Another highly touted prospect who will provide depth on the offensive line is three-star offensive tackle Beau Stephens from Blue Springs (MO). An immediate transfer who will help in the secondary is safety Xavior Williams, who is joining the Hawkeyes from Northern Iowa.

The Hawkeyes 2021 class ranks 22nd nationally with 18 total commits; six four-stars and 12 three-star players.

It will be exciting to watch this class who currently ranks in the middle of the conference help elevate Iowa into a conference contender as they try to win their first division crown in six years.
