Bishop Miege High School won their sixth straight 4A state championship in 2019 finishing the season 11-2 led by an offense that averaged over 46 points a game. The general of this high-powered unit was junior quarterback Timothy Dorsey.

This 6’1”, 187-pound, gunslinger threw for a whopping 3,026 yards, 45 touchdowns and six interceptions during his junior campaign and after the season won numerous individual honors. Dorsey possesses a strong and accurate arm to make different kinds of throws all over the field and has tremendous athleticism and footwork to escape pressure in the pocket and make plays with legs if necessary.

This class of 2021 recruit currently holds four college offers and is also receiving from several big-time college programs including Rice and Vanderbilt.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with the Bishop Miege star to discuss his junior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Tim, how would you grade your individual last season and why?

“I would grade it at a B, because for my first season starting it was pretty good but still there is a lot of stuff I can improve on and mistakes I made that I shouldn’t had been made but I was inexperienced then.”

What was your most memorable moment in your junior season?

“My most memorable moment from last year was beating Rockhurst; they’re the other big-time private school in Missouri. We lost to them last year by one point on a two-point conversion. I did not play in that game but this time I did and we beat them 34-7. That was one of the best feelings to see all my friends all pumped and super excited.”

What are your strengths on the football field?

“My strength on the football field is awareness. I feel like I can feel when the rush is coming, move around in the pocket, and make the throw on time. My ability to escape is another strength. I know that I’m not the fastest but I will be able to make plays with my feet in and outside the pocket. I’m not afraid to make any throw on the field, I’m really confident in myself and my arm. Leadership is another strength. I know that I can rally my team around me and get everyone on board in any situation.”

Did you receive any individual honors?

“I received first team All-State all classes on MaxPreps, I received first team All-Conference, and first team Sports in Kansas quarterback.”

Did you face any challenges in your junior season?

“I faced the challenge of overcoming a loss and overcoming a heart-breaking death in our community after the loss we had to St. James.”

How did you overcome this heart-breaking loss?

“I overcame those challenges by going back to the drawing board, watching film, and making sure everyone was practicing at a high level. I overcame the second challenge by beating Rockhurst the next week and working harder than I ever had for that game.”

What is your practice schedule like during the offseason?

“Right now, it’s a little off because of the COVID-19, but I’m working at five to six days a week at home which consists of running and body weight workouts, and throwing in my backyard as much as possible.”

What are you working on the most this offseason?

“Right now, I’m working on my feet a little more than usually just so my feet and eyes don’t get out of sync.”

Is there a current NFL quarterback that you try to model your game after?

“I try to take a piece of my favorite NFL quarterbacks’ game. My favorite QB is Deshaun Watson, I love the way he plays.”

Would you consider yourself a dual-threat quarterback or more pro-style?

“I would consider myself a pro-style that can run. I’m a pass-first guy but I can still beat you with my legs.”

Do you have any college offers?

“I have four Division-I college offers including Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Ball State and Southeast Missouri State.”

What other college programs are showing you interest at this time?

“Schools that are showing me interest that haven’t offer are South Dakota, Eastern Illinois, Murray State, Rice, North Dakota, and Vanderbilt.”

Have you been to any college camps?

“I went to Iowa State and Wake Forest last year.”

What was your favorite camp and why?

“My favorite camp was probably Iowa State, because we talked to some of the coaches and it was a fun camp with a lot of Division-I quarterbacks there.”

Do you have any pregame rituals?

“I listen to gospel music before every game and pray.”

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

“My fastest is a 4.73.”

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

“My favorite subject is English. For sure my teachers have always been really good and I like to write and read.”

What is your GPA?

“My GPA is a 3.8.”

What do you like the most about playing at Bishop Miege?

“Just the community. At Miege, we have a tight knit community who supports all the games and are die heart fans. I love that and love to play for them every Friday.”

Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?

“My favorite Bible verse is Matthew 19:26.”

Thank you for your time and good luck in your senior season.

“Thank you, sir.”
