The process in football is a long one with grueling days on the practice field fine-tuning raw abilities into talents. The future for all players at any point in time is unknown, but those rising to the top display a grasp of the game and uncommon upside that attracts the eye. One player out of the Los Angeles area on a strong progression forward with great potential is Aram Araradian.

Araradian competed for Burbank High School’s freshman team getting an end of the season call-up to the varsity squad. Against his peer group, the 5-11, 150-pound, gunslinger threw for an estimated 2,000 yards with 22 touchdowns against just five interceptions. The taste of varsity ball for Araradian was an adrenaline shot into the determination part of the brain for the rising Class of 2021 talent. With a knack to extend plays with his footwork and allusive nature and a developing arm to move the chains, Araradian is one to watch going forward in southern California.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I sat down with the Bulldogs future quarterback to learn more about his game and offseason workouts.

Interview

Aram, you got some varsity snaps in during your freshman season. That is a big deal. What was that first taste of varsity football like for you?

“It was a crazy time. It was a home game played at Burbank. The crowd was roaring and my teammates behind me. Our starting quarterback was working with me telling me what the defense was doing and helping me with my reads. I felt bonded with the team. It was good experience for me.”

Did you practice throughout the season with the varsity?

“Towards the end of the season, during the playoff run I did.”

How has that varsity experience help make you a better quarterback?

“It opened my eyes up. The defenses are faster, stronger, and bigger. I have to get on my grind and get better.”

Playing against your peer group, how did the season go for you personally?

“That was a fun experience. Our freshman team, we’ve been together since Pop Warner. We are a tight group. Everything worked out perfectly there.”

What were some of the things you did well in the pocket last season?

“I stepped up my game. I was reading defenses, had better pocket awareness, knew were the holes were, and which side was the strong-side so I could make plays.”

What are you working on this offseason?

“Everything. We got a new strength coach. I am hitting weights twice a day. I am eating a lot, trying to put on weight to play varsity. I’m trying to get my speed up as well. I am studying film from last year to improve my game and I’m watching varsity film to see the other team’s defenses.”

Are you working with a QB coach?

“I am working with Danny Hernandez.”

What is Coach Hernandez working on with you specifically?

“We work on roll outs, getting to third and fourth reads on check downs, quicker feet, and setting up my line throwing on the run. Stuff like that.”

Have you attended any camps or combines this spring?

“I went to the Premium Showcase and the Rise and Fire Camp in Encino.”

Do you have any camps upcoming?

“I plan on attending the USC Rising Stars Camp and a UCLA camp.”

What is your favorite subject in school?

“Math.”

What do you do for fun away from football?

“I like going out with my friends and spending time with them. I like having fun with them. We’ll go to the park and play some basketball.”

Aram, thanks for your time today and good luck with the rest of your offseason workouts.

“Thank you.”
