Texas: Interview with Cooper Dual-Threat Quarterback Chris Warren

Junior quarterback Chris Warren led Cooper High School to a 6-5 record in 2021 while helping the offense score 28.3 points per game. After racking up 1,469 passing yards, 541 rushing yards and 18 total touchdowns, this dual-threat playmaker was named second team All-District.

The 6’1”, 205-pound, field general has the ability to make plays both in the passing and running game. Warren also possesses good instincts, quickness, and footwork.

This Class of 2023 prospect is drawing interest from several colleges as he has attended numerous college camps this summer in preparation of his senior season.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Chris to talk about his preparations for his senior season and get an update on his recruiting process.

Chris, how would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?

I would have to say a B+ or an 8.5 out of 10.

What are your strengths on the football field?

I have the ability to make plays with my legs.

Did you receive any individual honors in 2021?

I was the MVP of the game against Abilene High and then I was named Second Team All-District.

Would you consider yourself a dual threat or pro style quarterback?

Definitely dual-threat.

Is there an NFL quarterback that you try to model your game after?

I would have to say Lamar Jackson or Cam Newton.

Have you attended any college camps?

I’ve attended camps at Hardin Simmons University, Texas-Permian Basin, TCU, and North Texas.

Do you plan to attend anymore this summer?

Yes sir, I have a few more lined up.

Are you receiving interest from any colleges?

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, McPherson, Southern Nazarene and a few others.

How are your preparing for your senior season?

Right now, I spend a lot of time in the weight room. I’m also throwing with my receivers and running backs every day so we build timing and chemistry.

What are your goals for the 2022 season?

I want to be a great leader to my teammates and have a great season.

What do you want to study in college?

Business.

Who is your role model and why?

My grandpa, because he’s a hard worker and never complains.

What is your GPA?

3.0.

Hard work beats talent!
