The Mountaineers persevered through a COVID-stricken season as they had two games during the regular season get canceled to finish 5-4. West Virginia capped off their season by defeating Army 24-21 in the Liberty Bowl. A 6-4 record was good enough to finish sixth in the Big 12 after ending 3-6 in 2019 which was their first season under Neal Brown.

With building blocks in place to continue the move upwards in the conference, Coach Brown and his staff have gathered a recruiting class that currently ranks fourth in the Big 12 securing talented prospects from all over the world.

Three-star wide receiver Andrew Wilson-Lamp from Massillon (OH) is the highest-rated recruit in the new class and is also one of six to already enroll in the school. West Virginia also locked up their quarterback of the future by signing quarterback Will Crowder from Gardendale (AL). The Mountaineers also received a letter of intent from the top-rated player in the state, offensive tackle Wyatt Milum from Huntington. An immediate transfer who will fill a need on the offensive line is guard Doug Nester who is joining the program from Virginia Tech.

The Mountaineers are ranked No. 38 nationally with 16 players attached to the 2021 class, three four-stars and 13 three-star talents.

It will be interesting if West Virginia can contend at the top of the Big 12 after taking steps upward in the ranking during the last two seasons.
