Interview: 2023 Texas SS Jeremiah Horn Earns District Defensive Player of the Year

A rising star strong safety deep in the heart of Texas that plays at Madison High School in Dallas is Jeremiah Horn. The 5’10”, 180-pound, talent patrols the Trojans’ secondary while his great athleticism, footwork, and tackling ability leads to big plays every week. He also has good field vision and a great ability to read opposing offenses.

This Class of 2023 recruit is currently working hard both on the practice field and in the weight room to earn his first college offer as he is already drawing interest from colleges.

Not only does he feature on the gridiron but he also swims, plays baseball, and runs track for Madison High.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Jeremiah to talk about his sophomore season and his career at Madison High.

Interview

Jeremiah, how would you grade your individual performance during your sophomore season?

I’d give myself a C, because I know I can do way better.

What would you say was your best game and why?

The game against Grandview, because I didn’t let them get the best of me.

What are your strengths on the football field?

I read the offenses and lead the defense.

Did you win any individual honors?

District Newcomer of the Year, District Sophomore of the Year, and District Defensive Player of the Year.

What is one area of your game that you saw improvement in over the course of the season?

My ability to guard receivers and my footwork.

What were some of the challenges you faced during the 2020 season?

I had to play with a broken thumb.

How did you overcome the injury?

I played in a way and acted like I wasn’t hurt.

What is your favorite thing about playing defense?

The energy and the hype.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Jamal Adams and Budda Baker.

Do you play any other sports in high school?

I swim, I play baseball, and I’m on the track team.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

Math, because it’s challenging and I like to be challenged.

Who is your biggest role model and why?

Dak Prescott, because he takes care of his community and gives back.

Are you receiving interest from any schools?

I am right now.

What is your GPA?

3.67.

What are your goals for the offseason?

I want to get bigger, faster, and stronger and help lead my team to a state championship.
