There are a lot of overlooked players dotting high school rosters across the country, and Jonesboro High School’s two-way star Jonathan Adams Jr. is one of them. On Monday, Arkansas State kept the backyard talent at home picking up Adam’s verbal commitment.

The Hurricanes blistered opposing 6A Arkansas defenses during the 2016 season running their record to 8-4. Along the way Adams led the Hurricanes with 63 receptions covering 1,231 yards with 19 touchdowns scored. The 6-3, 175 pound, playmaker got some time in at safety coming up with 16 tackles and two interceptions.

Adams showcased his open field abilities on special teams taking six kickoffs back 202 yards, with an 86-yard score on the stat sheet, and returned two punt for 47 yards during his junior campaign. Adams backed up his lofty stats by showing out during the All Arkansas Camp this summer running a 40-yard dash in 4.61.

Adams’ dad is a former Osceola High School star who went on to play for ASU.

The Red Wolves have bumped their 2017 commitment list to 10 with Adams. The class has an early lean on junior college talents with six recruits attached.
