Big In-State 2017 WR Racey McMath Commits to LSU

The Tigers coaching staff added their 20th verbal commitment to their 2017 recruiting class on Friday when big in-state receiver Racey McMath joined the group.
McMath was a key piece of Edna Karr’s 14-0 season in 2016 helping the Cougars capture a 4A state title. The 6-3, 215 pound, talent was pushing 20 scholarship offers seeing his regional recruiting stock grow beyond SEC country.
Teams to offer McMath included Memphis, UTSA, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette, Colorado State, Kansas, Cincinnati, Kent State, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, and Arizona. A Top 3 was released on Jan. 6 of LSU, Texas A&M and Mississippi State. McMath had a simple post on Twitter to announce his decision, “LSU Commit. #GeauxTigers.”
Both 247Sports and Rivals has LSU’s 2017 class ranked No. 7 in the country, third best in the SEC. Of the 20 commits, only seven are slated to play on the defensive side of the ball. The class has just one cornerback and no linebackers. If LSU takes a full class of 25 recruits, expect a couple more defensive players to fill the open spots.
