The college football camp season is in full swing with high school players pulling double-duty getting time in on the gridiron with their teammates in preparation for the 2016 season. One Class of 2017 recruit pulling interest his way everywhere he goes is Rancho Cucamonga High School’s Darren Hall.

Hall has shown his worth over the last two seasons at cornerback coming up with 45 tackles, three picks, and six pass breakups as a sophomore and bettered his stat line during his junior campaign with 48 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, three passes defended, a pick, and blocked a punt.

The first three schools to offer the 6’1”, 170 pound, rising star were Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. The offer list has grown to 11 schools with Colorado, Oregon State, UNLV, San Jose State, New Mexico, Fresno State, Colorado State, and Washington State hoping to pull Hall out of the southern California area.

In a Recruiting News Guru catch-up interview with Hall, we covered his camp season, offseason workouts, and updated his recruiting interests.

Interview

Darren, which camps have you attended so far during the offseason?

“I participated at the Washington camp, Inland Empire Showcase camp – a couple of teams that offered me were there, and an Oregon State and Nevada camp.”

How did the Oregon State camp go for you?

“It was real nice. I met the whole coaching staff and was shown a lot of love. Coach (Cory) Hall (cornerbacks coach) is a real good guy.”

How about the Washington camp, how did that go?

“It went well. Coach (Jimmy) Lake (co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach) showed a lot of love. Washington has shown a lot of interest. Depending on how their numbers workout, hopefully I could get a scholarship offer from them.”

Do you have any more camps on your schedule coming up?

“No, I’m done with camps. I’m focusing on next season and getting bigger, stronger, and faster.”

You may be done with camps but are you taking any unofficial visits before the season begins?

“No. Going forward, I’ll only take my official visits.”

Have you started working on your official visit list yet?

“The only school I know of that I’m officially visiting as of right now is Utah. I’m not sure about any other schools after that.”

You mentioned getting bigger, stronger, and faster, how are your offseason workouts going?

“I’m putting more weight on and toning out. I’m adding speed as I gain weight. I’m doing a lot of speed work focusing on my hip flexors and my hamstrings getting them stronger for the season.”

Do you have anything fun planned with the family or anything outside of football that you are doing this summer for fun?

“Family wise, we are doing a home makeover. No trips this summer. I’ve helped out at a couple of children football camps this summer – two at Rancho.”

Nice. Darren good luck with your offseason workouts and thanks for your time today.

“Thank you.”
