UCLA added a potential immediate contributor to their 2017 season with the verbal commitment of Cassius Peat on Sunday.

Peat, originally from Corona Del Sol in Tempe (AZ), committed to Michigan State out of high school, but after a redshirt season decided to transfer to Prima Community College in August to be closer to home.  Peat’s decision to join the Bruins may have a familiar tone to diehard fans. In October of 2014, Peat committed to UCLA but decommitted in December in favor of the Spartans.

UCLA fans found out about Peat’s commitment on Twitter with a message reading, “Extremely humble and grateful Los Angeles will be my home for the next 3-4 years. Had so much fun this weekend #UCLA.”

The 6-3, 258 pound, sometimes listed as heavy as 275, end is part of a Prima squad that has started the season off 2-1. Peat is not credited with an official stat this season. Peat was considered a three-star recruit by Rivals out of high school.

UCLA now has nine verbal commitments to their 2017 class.
