On Jan. 14, linebacker Dylan Moses, who played his first three high school seasons at University Lab in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announced that he was transferring to finish out high school career at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

The announcement came via the star player’s Twitter account, “Today I made the toughest decision of my life, I have decided to leave the school that has helped mold me into the person that I am today to further prepare me for the future. I want to thank the University Lab Administration, Staff and Coaches that have helped me succeed as a Student-Athlete. While there I’ve been surrounded by GREAT people, made the best of friends and put among fantastic supporters.  So with that being said, I am transferring over to IMG Academy to finish out the remainder of my high school career.  Thank you.”

Moses is 6’2”, 220 pounds, and is currently the No. 1 player in the nation in the Class of 2017 by 247sports.com. The star linebacker is also the second consecutive No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana to transfer to IMG after quarterback Shea Patterson transferred there from Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport last season.

Moses has had a stellar career after making history as he received his first college offer from LSU when he was in eighth grade. In ninth grade, the freshman phenom committed LSU and finished the year with 176.5 total tackles. His tenth grade season was just as amazing as the man-child finished 152 total tackles.

On Aug. 3, 2015, Moses via Twitter that he was decommitting from LSU to enjoy the full recruiting process. In his final season at University Lab, Moses missed two games due to injury but still managed to register 104 total tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and two forced fumbles. Despite the injury he was voted the District 6-3A Defensive MVP.

The main reason for Moses’ transfer is academic, said a source close to the player, as he is expected to graduate next December and enroll in a college for the spring semester in 2017.

Along with LSU, other schools that are actively recruiting the No. 1 player in the country include Alabama, Florida State, Texas, and USC.

No matter where he chooses to attend college, Moses will have a great ending to his high school career at IMG Academy.

  • Like everybody else, I have been watching this kid since the 8th grade. But, I have never seen any live game footage, just highlight videos. In your opinion, does Moses have upside? Or, is he fully developed already? Too many young stars never progress after an early age and when they are dominating a bunch of little kids.
As a late bloomer myself, I am not really into early recruiting.

Nice site and I appreciate your hard work.

I don’t think Dylan is fully developed as he still can improve especially in his blocking ability. Personally I think he should get a little stronger. He has the tools to have a great college career and make it to the NFL. He just needs to continue to play hard and practice hard and stay focused on that goal.
