The Arkansas Razorbacks are rolling along with their 2017 recruiting class, currently ranked No. 20 in the nation by Rivals. The class has 20 commits needing just five more should a full class sign on National Signing Day. The Hogs have a jump start on the 2018 class with two four-star commits with in-state quarterback Connor Noland (Greenwood) and Texas linebacker Bumper Pool (Lovejoy). Another 2018 four-star recruit who has his eyes on the Hogs is Florida cornerback Ken Montgomery Jr.

Montgomery is part of an 8-1 Hillsborough High School team prepping for their first round playoff game against Lake Gibson. The 6-2, 165 pound, talent came up with 21 tackles and two picks as a sophomore and has 30 tackles, 10 passes defended, and a fumble recovery so far this year.

Over 20 different college programs have already extended an offer to the Tampa area talent. One of the many to offer is Arkansas. Over the weekend Montgomery took his first trip to Fayetteville taking in the Hogs 31-10 victory over Florida. I caught up with Montgomery to see how his trip went.

Interview

Ken, how did the visit go?

“It went very cool. The weather and the climate, the whole environment, was great. I loved the people there. My family did too.”

What all did you do while you were there?

“We were in Fayetteville and Bentonville seeing the surrounding area. We toured around the campus. We saw the SEC Network and Razorback Network there. I went to a lot of food places and that was pretty much it.”

What did you think about the football facilities and campus?

“The facilities were amazing. They are changing the stadium, it’ll be even bigger and better next year. I was in a class with a professor. I got to see how their classrooms are setup. The campus is big and beautiful.”

Which coaches did you meet with?

“I met with all of the coaches. I sat down with Coach B (head coach Bret Bielema) every day.”

What did Coach B talk about with you?

“He talked about building the Arkansas brand and getting better. He said he would look out for me like one of his sons. We did not talk too much about football.”

Did you sit in on any meetings?

“No.”

Do you see yourself fitting in with the team’s defense?

“Yes, sir.”

Who went with you?

“My dad.”

Do you plan to visiting Arkansas again, if so when?

“Yeah, probably in the spring or over the summer.”

Do you have another visit scheduled with any other schools coming up?

“No, that was it for now.”

How did all the other recruits get along and what all did they think about the Razorbacks?

“All of us got a long very well. Bumper Pool is cool, Connor is cool too. Connor showed me around. We all got along. They kept encouraging me to join the squad.”

Did you have that urge to want to commit while you were there or once you got back home and had some time to think about it?

“I wouldn’t say I wanted to commit but it is running through my mind. Arkansas is a school that really pops out to me.”

Ken, thank for your time today and good luck in the playoffs.

“Thank you.”
