Terrence Ferguson may not be listed as a five-star, but he dominates Georgia 3A competition like one. The four-star Peach County recruit has been atop college football recruiting boards across the country for years pushing his offer total to 20-plus after another commanding show on the field in 2019 earning consensus Georgia All-State honors along with All-Region and a placement on the Georgia Super 7. Deep into his offseason workout, the 6-4, 300-pound, tackle is pushing his overall game preparing for upcoming national camps while taking snaps as a center to expand his versatility for some lucky college football program if needed.

For an update on all that he has going on, Ferguson went into the RNG Lab for another in-depth interview.

Interview

Terrence, when we last spoke you were past the midpoint of your junior season showing great improvement in your overall game. When the season wrapped, what did you feel were the strengths to your game as an offensive tackle?

“My quickness, technique, and trying to be fundamentally sound.”

The Trojans made a three-game run into the playoffs last season, how did those extra games against top 3A Georgia teams help further develop your overall game?

“They helped me develop playing against better competition. But I’d say our first four games of the season, they are always against higher classification teams, those games are as tough as the playoff games. All of it helps me develop into a better player.”

What are you working on this offseason?

“Being more versatile. With every workout, I am taking about 50 snaps at center. I’m not playing center this season, but if they need me at any position in college I want to be ready.”

Your work in the weight room shows on the field, have you maxed out recently?

“No. We do our maxes the week before spring break. I am working on explosion now.”

When the time comes to max out, what are you aiming for with the various lifts?

“I want to get 360 on bench, I have no goal for squat yet, and on power clean, I want to get 285 or 290 pounds.”

Are you taking the skills to any camps this spring?

“Yes. I plan on attending a Rivals camp and The Opening Regional in Atlanta.”

Let’s talk some recruiting. How many offers do you have now?

“I think I have 22 or 23.”

Ferguson’s Reported Offer Sheet: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, and Western Kentucky

Over the last few months, have you taken any visits?

“I went to Georgia a couple of times, Alabama, and Florida State.”

Overall, how have the visits with Georgia gone?

“They went great. I always have a great time in Athens.”

And the Bama visit, how did that turn out?

“That also went great. During the visit, I talked to the coaching staff; it all went great.”

Last one. How did the trip to Tallahassee go?

“About the same as the others. I was there on Sunday. I met the new coaching staff. It was my first time being there since my freshman year. They are working to improve their facilities. The new staff has the right mindset and are heading into the right direction.”

Have you planned out any visits for this spring?

“No. I have not mapped that out yet. I will start mapping out my visits for this spring and summer soon.”

Have you started thinking about when you might verbally commit?

“I’m in no rush. The earliest I would commit is at the end of summer or during our camp, but it could go up to signing day.”

For the school that earns your commitment, what does that ideal fit look like in your eyes?

“That school will have to have a great tradition, the coaches – the position coach will have to have a good history of getting players to the league. But the coach could be gone so do those players thrive in that system. The family fit and feel is important to me.”

Terrence, it is always great getting time in with you. Wishing you success at the upcoming camps.

“Thank you.”
