Which college program does not like a big receiver with speed? That is the quick summation of four-star 2021 receiver Cristian Dixon. At 6-2, 195-pounds, Dixon blew past Division-I California defenses during the 2018 season hauling in 43 passes for 862 yards with nine trips into the end zone and even tossed a 50-yard score for Diamond Ranch High School. Over the offseason, Dixon made the move to back-to-back national champs Mater Dei prepping to help the Monarchs make a run for a third consecutive California and national title.

When the lights go up on the 2019 season, 18 college football programs who have already offered Dixon will be intently falling along while more national interest is sure to come his way. Covering the move to Mater Dei and his recruiting, Dixon and I sat down for a quick catch-up interview.

Interview

Cristian, how has the transfer to Mater Dei gone on the field?

“It is going well. I’ve had a slow start getting used to the style of offense and the competition but I am in the groove now.”

How will the Monarchs use you within their offense?

“They will use me more as a deep threat, but in every way. I am on the outside on both sides.”

The team is once again loaded with talent, what is a typical Mater Dei practice like?

“The practices are all about competition. It is straight business. There are no hard feelings but you try to kill them man in front of you. That is getting us to get ready for the season.”

What is the mindset of the team as the 2019 season nears?

“Our mindset is to do our job, play hard football and be the toughest in So Cal.”

What goals have you set for yourself this season?

“My goals are to do my job and be where (QB) Bryce (Young) needs me. He throws to spot, not where you are at. My goal is to be a team player so the team can three-peat.”

Which teams on the schedule are you excited to play?

“I am excited to play all of them. I am excited for the competition level, the intensity, and I am excited to see where I am at physically and mentally against the best.”

With recruiting, which schools are showing the most overall interest?

“LSU, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Washington, Oregon, Alabama – but I do not have that one yet.”

How many offers do you hold now?

“I have 18 offers.”

Dixon’s Offer Sheet (18): Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Cal, Colorado, Florida State, Kansas, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Nevada, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, and Washington State

Are you planning on taking any visits this fall? Any game day visits?

“I am not sure where all I may go yet, but I do plan on visiting LSU, Oregon, USC, and UCLA.”

Cristian, great catching up with you today. I hope the rest of fall camp goes great for you and the Monarchs.

“Thank you.”
