Shaun Hudson is making a name for himself at Thomasville High School in Alabama by spending time on both sides of the ball playing running back and on the defensive line. The 5’10”, 190-pound, athlete is very physical and competitive as he delivers big hits to his opponents. He also possesses great strength and has a great understanding of the mental aspect of the game.

The Class of 2022 recruit is working hard to earn his first college offer as he is preparing for a big senior season in 2021.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Shaun to talk about his junior season and his preparations for his senior season.

Interview

Shaun, how would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?

I’d grade it with a B-minus. I worked harder on my craft as the season went on.

What would you say was your best game and why?

Saxon. I was going through personal issues in my life and it brought me closer to my team. We won the game and I overcame everything

What are your strengths on the football field?

My physicality and competitiveness. I like to look at the mental aspect of the game. I refer to my coaches a lot.

What is your favorite thing about playing on the defensive line?

I get to hit someone on every play. It’s fun hitting on the play.

What is your favorite thing about playing running back?

It’s fun, I like being the key of the offense. I like hitting people on offense and so I categorized myself as a power back.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

4.71 at a camp. I’ve been working on my speed all summer so it will get better.

What are your maxes in the weight room?

My max bench is 255, my max squat is 350, and my max power clean is 200.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Ezekiel Elliot.

Do you play any other sports in high school?

I’m on the track and I play basketball

Have you been to any camps this summer?

Toledo, and I have plans to attend an Auburn and West Alabama camp later this summer.

What you have been working on the most this offseason?

My speed, agility, and leg power. I also always work on my mental aspect. Football is not always about being physical or strong but you need a good mental game.

What game on the 2021 schedule are you most looking forward too?

Montgomery Academy, because it is a personal game. They beat us last year.

What are your goals for your senior season?

I want to stand out as a player and more so as a leader. I’m working on my leadership skills. I want to do anything to help my team win. I also want to earn more interest from coaches and colleges. I want to bring a state championship to my team.

What is your GPA?

2.7.

Do you have a favorite quote?

“Do not as you see, do as you will.” I grew up rough, I had to change my ways to make my life better. This quote changed me.

Thank you for your time today.

Thank you, sir.
