Alabama Hits 25 Commits with Louisiana 4-Star DT Phidarian Mathis

The Alabama staff did not hurt their recruiting status on Tuesday when they accepted a verbal commitment from four-star Louisiana defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis.
Mathis worked his way into four-star status with Neville High School helping the Tigers to a 13-1 record with state runner-up finish losing in the championship game 34-21 to powerhouse Edna Karr. The Tigers’ staff credited Mathis with 41 tackles through 12 games with 38 solo stops with 12 tackles for a loss and five sacks.
The 6-4, 287 pound, playmaker had over 20 offers to choose from taking an official visit to LSU (Jan. 13), Alabama (Jan. 20), and TCU (Jan. 27) down the recruiting stretch run. Mathis made his announcement at a cemetery with hats on the table for LSU, TCU, and Bama.
Alabama has the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation entering National Signing Day with what looks like a full class with 25 commitments, but on NSD anything can change.
