Alexy Jean-Baptiste Visits with Bielema and Long on Second Trip to Arkansas

Written by Ryan Wright

A week ago Coconut Creek Safety Alexy Jean-Baptiste was a verbally committed Arkansas Razorback safety/outside linebacker who had never visited the campus before. A week later Jean-Baptiste has now made the 20-hour one-way trek from south Florida to northwest Arkansas twice further securing his commitment with the Hogs.

Arkansas hosted an Elite Camp on Thursday with several of the top prospects from around the region in attendance. Jean-Baptiste (6’3”, 205) did not camp but watched friend, running back James Charles (St. Thomas Aquinas), show his stuff and got a chance to mingle with the coaching staff and a few key Arkansas recruits.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview I caught up with Alexy on his way out of Fayetteville to get his thoughts on his second visit to the Arkansas campus.

Interview
Alexy, how did your second visit to the Arkansas campus go?

“It went good but I didn’t camp. I just walked around. I talked to the Athletic Director (Jeff Long) and some of the recruits.”

Did the trip go further to secure your commitment to Arkansas?

“Yes.”

Did you learn anything new about Arkansas during your visit today?

“We went over the same things we went over last time. I just got to meet all the coaches.”

How did your meeting with Coach Bielema go?

“It went great. He talked about all the big stuff that will happen when I come. He talked about all the changes that are going on and all of the stuff that is being built.”

Did you set an official visit date when you were there?

“No. Not yet.”

Which recruits did you get to talk to when you there?

“The running back commit, T.J. Hammonds (Robinson HS), and the defensive end, McTelvin Agim (Hope HS).”

What all did you guys talk about with Hammonds and Agim?

“They just said that big things are happening at Arkansas and we’re the future of it.”

Did Agim say that he was going to Arkansas?

“He said he was most likely going to Arkansas.”

*An attempt was made to contact Agim to confirm the quote without a reply.

How did your friend James Charles do at the camp?

“He had a great camp but they didn’t offer him yet. Hopefully they do.”

Was there one thing that stood out to you today during your visit that you didn’t see or learn from your first visit?

“The dorms. I liked there are four people in a room with two bathrooms. I like that we can communicate a lot and get to know each other better.”

Where are you off to now?

“We’re going back home.”

Do you have any other unofficial visits set before your senior season begins?

“No.”
