Arizona worked their 2017 class to near completion on Christmas Eve securing Florida outside linebacker Jose Ramirez.

Ramirez had a standout senior season for Auburndale High School leading the Bloodhounds with 114 total tackles. In addition to 77 solo tackles racked up, Ramirez had 6.5 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, and a blocked punt in 11 games played.

The Auburndale area talent had a wild recruiting month in December. Ramirez committed to South Alabama on Dec. 12 over offers from Northern Illinois, North Dakota State, Old Dominion, Eastern Kentucky, Southeast Missouri State, Tennessee State, Troy, and Bowling Green. An offer from Arizona changed everything for the Florida recruit.

Wildcat fans found out about Ramirez’s commitment on Twitter with a post reading “Blessed Up” followed by a statement:

Arizona’s 2017 class has been reshaped throughout the last month of the year. The Wildcats have dropped some recruits picking up Sione Taufahema, Tony Wallace, and Ramirez so far in December.

Rivals rates the Wildcats 2017 class No. 19 in the country with three four-star recruits and 17 three-star players. 247Sports sees Arizona’s class No. 29 in the nation, No. 4 overall in the Pac-12.

    Hi,

My name is Mike and I’m a big Cat fan. Your article mentions 3 stars for Ramirez, but which service are you quoting for this star rating?

There are some pretty negative fans on the Cat board I go to, and wanted to inform them if possible.

    Thank you!!

    • Michael,

Rankings must have changed. I typically look at Rivals and/or 247Sports. 247 does not have him rated, Rivals now has him as a two-star, as does Scout. I’m guessing Rivals or 247 had him as a three-star but changed it??? Off the top of my head I cannot remember exactly which one I cited.
