The Razorbacks picked up a nice homecoming win on Saturday over Tennessee-Martin and added highly regarded Texas outside linebacker Jordan Carmouche in the process.

Carmouche and another Arkansas target, Manvel High School running back teammate D’Vaughn Pennamon, were in attendance for the Razorbacks homecoming win. The trip to Fayetteville helped seal the deal for the 6’1”, 225 pound Carmouche.

Carmouche has been a productive player for the Mavericks since his sophomore season when he logged 47 tackles, four pass breakups, three tackles for a loss, and four interceptions. During his junior season he upped his production registering 57 tackles, six tackles for a loss, two sacks, an interception, and four pass breakups.

Manvel is off to an 8-1 record, 7-0 in district play, complimented by a roster full of talent this season. Carmouche leads his team in tackles with 44, has one tackle for a loss, one sack, and one quarterback hurry with one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

College recruiters like Carmouche’s skill set with 22 offers being extended to the Texas native. Among the many to offer includes Cal, Missouri, Stanford, Texas Tech, Washington, Duke, Houston, Wisconsin, Boston College, Baylor, Arizona State, and Texas. The recruiting process has not gone lightly on Carmouche, he has unofficially visited Oklahoma, Texas, and UCLA and officially visited Missouri on Oct. 9.

Pennamon is also a highly regarded recruit with over 20 offers on the table. Pennamon committed to Ole Miss in July but has continued to go through the recruiting process picking up an offer from Alabama last week. Some of the other programs extending offers includes UCLA, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Utah, Kansas State, Louisville, Cal, and Nebraska. The 5’11”, 195 pound, all-purpose back has 785 yards on the ground off of 58 carries with 12 touchdowns this season. Showing his versatility as an every down back, he also has 15 pass receptions for 140 yards with two more scores.

The Hogs now have 15 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class. Carmouche is the second linebacker in the class joining Marrero, Louisiana’s Dejon Harris. Carmouche is also the second Texas talent the Hogs have secured to the 2016 class joining Arlington Lamar wide receiver Kofi Boateng.
