Saturday turned out to be a good day for the Arkansas coaching staff on the recruiting trail landing Missouri offensive/defensive tackle Shane Clenin.

Clenin is an under the radar recruit despite having 10 reported offers. He tore open holes on offense for his running backs helping Jefferson High School (Festus) to an 8-5 record in 2015. The Blue Jays made a three-game run into the Missouri playoffs before falling 52-30 to Cardinal Ritter.

College coaches have seen enough to extend offers. Among the teams Arkansas pulled Clenin away from included Colorado State, Iowa State, Illinois State, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri State, Eastern Michigan, and Northwestern.

Clenin made his announcement public via Twitter posting, “After discussions with my family I have made a decision to continue my football career and education at the University of Arkansas! I am blessed to have great teachers, friends, family, and coaches who have guided me throughout my life. I couldn’t have reached this point without them.”

The Hogs now have seven verbal commitment to their 2017 class. Offensive line has been an early priority for head coach Bret Bielema and new offensive line coach Kurt Anderson. The Hogs already have three verbal commitments up front on offense; Dwayne Fisher, Kirby Adcock, and Clenin.
