Arkansas Razorbacks Land Texas WR Kofi Boateng

Written by Ryan Wright

The Arkansas Razorbacks picked up verbal commitment No. 13 to their 2016 recruiting class on Saturday landing Arlington Lamar High School wide receiver Kofi Boateng.

Boateng is one of the more highly recruited wide receivers in the nation with some 30 scholarship offers. The 6’1”, 180 pound, target had 66 receptions for 1,023 receiving yards with 15 touchdowns as a junior helping the Vikings to an 8-3 record.

The Hogs fought off offers from Arizona State, Ole Miss, Cal, Cincinnati, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Washington, Wisconsin, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Colorado State, Houston, and Iowa to land the prized Texas recruit.

Kofi posted his announcement on Twitter with the post reading, “First off, I’d like to thank all 30 schools that extended me offers and all the other schools who took the time to recruit me and God, for helping me through this tough process of picking the best school for me. The decision was not an easy one but I feel like I made the best decision for myself and wish all the other schools the best of luck in the future. I’m happy to announce that I am committing to the University of Arkansas! #WooPigSooie.”

The Hogs now have 13 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class. Boateng joins Smackover High School receiver as the other receiver in the class paired with Teurlings Catholic quarterback Cole Kelley.

Arkansas’ recruiting class is nearly full, even at 13 commitments. The Hogs are reportedly only going to take 18 players in their 2016 class.
