Sierra Canyon is coming off an excellent 2014 season finishing 11-2 with an extremely young team. The Trailblazers are still young, but stacked with talent. When Sierra Canyon was making their way through the season a year ago Kohl Hollinquest, Beau Zacharia, and Niko Harris each took turns pushing the powerful San Fernando Valley offensive squad forward each with great results.

In the offseason, Harris moved to fulltime starting quarterback with Hollinquest filling in nicely at wide receiver, a spot he excelled at in 2014 as well. Harris led the team in passing a year ago posting 1,154 yards completing 62 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns tossed, all as a sophomore. Harris also had 34 carries for 134 yards showing his ability to pull the ball down and run if needed.

The Trailblazers are off to another hot start with a 4-0 record before taking off to play Mission Prep in Week 5 in San Luis Obispo. With the hot start, Harris is off to a blistering pace completing 51-of-82 passes for 917 yards with 14 touchdowns against just one pick. No surprise that his top target is Hollinquest. The senior has 15 receptions for 322 yards with six touchdowns to lead the team.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview I caught up with Harris before a Sierra Canyon practice getting an update on his progress this year.
