Turn on the tape – Cody Taylor is a bully. Watching film of Taylor (6-3, 285) from the 2022 Arkansas high school football season, one would never know he was dominating the line of scrimmage as a freshman. Greenwood High School trusted their young bull to produce at left guard, and that he did. As his sophomore campaign heats up, Taylor has eight offers in the backpack and game-day visits on the horizon.

For those unfamiliar with Natural State football, the Bulldogs are always one of Arkansas’ best. Greenwood made a state title game run last fall and are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Stillwater (OK) and Northside (AR).

The style of offense the Bulldogs execute was discussed, “We run a bunch of formations. With (2026 QB) Kane Archer, we pass a lot. We are big enough on the offensive line, when we need to run the ball, we can. Against Stillwater, we ran a lot.”

Preparing for his sophomore season, Taylor got some extra tutelage working with college o-line coaches.

“I worked mainly on my speed, developing better technique, and being better with my kick-step,” Taylor stated. “Going to college camps, I learned a lot working at Virginia Tech with coach Ron Crook (OL), coach (AJ) Blazek from Vanderbilt (OL), and coach (Bill) Bedenbaugh (OL) at Oklahoma; there were a bunch more that I learned from this summer.”

The extra work is paying off on the field.

“I am seeing a lot of improvements in my hand placement, my kick-step is better, and I am better at finishing dudes on the field,” Taylor said.

Teams from all over the country are now tracking Taylor.

Arkansas is showing a lot of interest,” Taylor shared. “I have 230-plus coaches following me on Twitter. Arkansas is showing a lot of love, and Virginia Tech is showing a lot of interest, but they have offered.”

Taylor continued covering the teams showing interest and the camps and stops he made over the offseason.

“Nebraska, they are showing love, but they haven’t offered yet,” Taylor stated. “Arkansas, OU, I went to OU’s spring game, I camped at TCU, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Tennessee, that was a big thing. I got to put on the jersey at Tennessee.

“We went to Georgia, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. The Florida State camp, that was rained out. I visited while I was there and met with their o-line coach (Alex Atkins) and took pictures. At the end of July, I camped with Baylor as well.”

The time in Tallahassee was an eye-opening experience for Taylor.

“It is a lot different from other schools, and in a good way,” Taylor said. “Their o-line coach is cool. There were a lot of people there because the camp was cancelled, but I was individually toured around; I appreciated that. I thought it was awesome.”

Taylor added to his Tennessee visit, “That was only a visit. We got to see everything; the whole campus and I met with their o-line coach, coach (Glen) Elarbee. He evaluated my film while I was there. I got to go on the field and take pics in the uniform.”

The hang in Blacksburg did not disappoint.

“Virginia Tech was a personal workout,” Taylor stated. “It was awesome working with the staff. My dad talked about all the things I need to work on, he said the same thing their o-line coach said. I am blessed to be offered from there.”

A trio of game-day visits could happen this fall.

“I have been invited to Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Arkansas; I am not sure which ones we will go with yet,” Taylor said. “We’ll have to figure it out with my football schedule.”

Among the teams that have offered Taylor includes Ole Miss, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, UNLV, Toledo, New Mexico State, and Virginia Tech.
