One of the big breakout stars in the state of Florida during spring training was Lamar Williams. The Gadsden County High School (Havana) talent immediately attracts the eye at 6-7, 280 pounds, and keeps attention his way with his play on both sides of the ball. Twitchy and athletic enough to be a next level defensive lineman, Williams has all the talent to be a five-tool next level offensive tackle.

The spring months allowed teams to catch up to Williams’ talents pushing his offer total to 14. The focus for college coaches is Williams on the offense line, which is in turn now his focus.

“My pass blocking is definitely a strength, and I get off quick,” Williams said. “This offseason I have been working on getting stronger and faster, my explosion, and my run blocking.”

In the month of May, Williams added 10 scholarship opportunities highlighted by Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Miami with squads like Florida, Georgia, and Alabama showing interest. A bond with another in-state school is developing after visiting the Seminoles this spring.

“It went well,” Williams shared. “I connected with the coaches there. I am developing a relationship with coach (Alex) Atkins (OC/OL). When I was there, I talked to their coaches about their plan for me in their program.”

A handful of trips are in the works covering the summer months.

“I am visiting Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Clemson, and Ole Miss,” Williams stated.

Williams detailed his interest in some of the teams he plans to visit.

Georgia: “I am excited to meet their coaches and see the culture of the program.”

Alabama: “They have always been one of my top three schools. I want to see what it looks like, and what their facilities look like.”

Miami: “Miami is one of the top power five colleges that gave me an offer early in my recruiting. I like their coaches. I like their o-line coach, coach (Alex) Mirabal, we have a good connection.”

Clemson: “Clemson has always been a dream school; I want to go there and take a look.”

Asked the three top schools on the board early for Williams, he replied, “Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia.”

The skills will be on display at Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, and the Legendary Camp at Miami this summer.
