On Sunday Texas offensive guard Xavier Newman decommitted from Texas after being part of the Longhorns 2017 recruiting class for nearly six months. By Monday, Texas fans got the answer to the why question when the DeSoto talent announced he was committing to Colorado.

Newman, an Under Armour All-American Game selection, has been widely recruited out of DeSoto High School. The 247Sports ranked three-star recruit has 22 offers reported from teams like Mississippi State, Kansas State, Missouri, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Texas Tech, SMU, and Texas A&M. When he decommitted on Sunday, Newman posted:

Some saw the flip coming. Newman’s wide receiver teammate Laviska Shenault, committed to the Buffaloes on April 21. Speculation had the two wanting to play together at the next level.

The 6-2.5, 272 pound, lineman pushes Colorado’s recruiting class to 19 commits. 247Sports rates the group as the No. 31 class in the nation, fourth best in the Pac-12.
