The recruiting trail was somewhat shocked on Sunday when Colorado landed highly recruited safety/running back Craig Watts.

Watts, listed at 5’10”, 180 pounds, has been one of the more highly recruited players in the nation with over 40 offers on the table. Keeping recruiting tabs on the Admiral Farragut Academy star has been tough but fun to follow. In mid-June he committed to Wisconsin but by July 10 had decommitted. More offers continued to roll in but Watts maintained that Wisconsin was his leader in the clubhouse.

On Sunday the Buffaloes landed their first 4-star recruit in the 2016 class with Watts’ verbal commitment becoming the second Florida pledge in the current haul (Johnny Huntley – South Plantation).

For what recruiting rankings are worth, the last 4-star, per Rivals, that the Buffaloes signed was St. John Bosco wide receiver Shay Fields (Bellflower, CA) in the 2014 recruiting class. Adding to the impressive commitment for Colorado are all the schools that have previously offered Watts including Florida State, Kentucky, Arizona, Alabama, Boston College, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Missouri, Mississippi State, South Florida, Pitt, and Oklahoma among many more.
