The Blue Devils have quietly put together as solid of a 2017 recruiting class as any other team in the nation not named Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, and the alike. Duke’s class, currently ranked No. 22 in the nation (Rivals), got a big boost on Monday when California quarterback Jack Sears committed.

Sears had been on the national recruiting radar heading into his junior campaign but helped his stock value guiding San Clemente High School to an 11-3 mark in 2015. The Tritons four-star quarterback connected on 71 percent of his passes covering 2,697 yards with 37 touchdowns scored against just two picks tossed. The pro-style quarterback can move the chains with his legs as well adding another 862 yards on 112 carries finding the end zone another nine times last season.

Score one for a wide open offense and top notch education on the Duke to Sears connection. Sears shook off offers from teams like Florida State, Colorado, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Cal, Boston College, Northwestern, UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington, and Texas A&M, among many others, when committing to the Blue Devils.

Duke’s class has 14 recruits considered three-star prospects with Georgia defensive end Drew Jordan and Sears being the lone four-star players.
