Recruiting efforts are starting to pick up for the Gators adding their third commitment over the last two months landing in-state defensive tackle Jordon Scott on Wednesday.

Scott was part of an 8-3 Pinellas Park High School squad in 2015 anchoring the line on defense. The 6’1”, 345 pound, tackle was a dominating force for the Patriots coming up with a team-high 84 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Colleges have rushed to the Largo area talent trying to build a relationship that would turn to a verbal commitment. Scott was in the neighborhood of 30 offers when he committed to the Gators. Some of the teams seeking Scott’s services as part of the 2017 recruiting class included Tennessee, Arizona, Indiana, Rutgers, South Florida, Toledo, West Virginia, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa State, Navy, and Kentucky. Scott’s decision reportedly came down to Florida and in-state rival Florida State.

Scott is the first defensive recruit added to the Gators’ 2017 class. Florida now has six verbal commitments highlighted by four-stars Daquon Green, Kadeem Telfort, and Jake Allen.
