KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A top five posted on New Year’s Day has been narrowed to four favorites for cornerback Charles Lester. The elite cornerback out of Sarasota (Fla.) Riverview High School has his pick of programs to sign with as part of the 2024 class, now the recruiting battle for the four-star heats up another few thousand degrees among the lucky few.

Lester updated his recruiting process sharing, “Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida State, those are the four schools that I’m down to. Those are the four that I am only talking to. From here on, the list will get smaller. I am not talking to anyone else.”

Insight was given on how each program made the next cut.

THE TOP FOUR BREAKDOWN

Florida State: “I’ve been around that place numerous times, it is just a great place. I love the coaching staff and the environment. It is a great place to be. I love the new journey that they are going on. They got one more steppingstone to get over before saying that they are the Florida State everyone used to know. Being around them, spending time with them and getting to know them is why. I have a good time every time I go there, and I have great conversations with them over the phone.”

Ohio State: “I just went to Ohio State, it was a great visit. I watched practice and watched them get after it. Coach (Tim) Walton (CB) had me sit in the meeting, and I talked to coach (Ryan) Day; I got to know them a little bit more. I’ve only been to Ohio State twice. It was really about getting to know the people, getting to know the environment, and taking the tours. It was a bonding experience.”

Alabama: “I am going to Alabama on April 20 for one of their practices. I have been there numerous times too. Going there will be more of a bonding experience with the chance to get closer to the university and the coaching staff. I have seen all of their facilities; it’ll be more about getting closer to their coaches.”

Georgia: “I just left Georgia on Friday. Georgia is a great place. I got to see them practice on Thursday. They got after it, that’s why they are winning national championships. They practice how they play. Being around that, seeing them practice, seeing the behind-the-scenes, and watching them on television playing as a team. It is what they say it is there. They are a powerhouse, and they are going to work you to be the best.”

Lester shared his plan for official visits, “I know for sure I will do three, right now I will take officials to all four.”

The dates for each visit were laid out, “I am going to Georgia June 23-25, Ohio State June 16-18, and Florida State will be my last one in December. I had it scheduled for June 23, but I had to change it. Alabama, I will schedule that when I go up on the 20th.”

The top five posted on Jan. 1 included Florida State, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
