Teams chased after 2024 strongside defensive end Xavier Porter (6-4, 275) putting 37 offers in his hands, but in the end just three squads officially hosted the Florida prospect. Louisville, Penn State, and Kansas paid for his trip to campus from Tampa and those three are in the running for his July 8 commitment.

Porter covered each official visit giving details as to why he likes each program.

Louisville: “It was pretty good. I had never been there. I hadn’t been to any of the places before taking my official visits, I didn’t know what to expect. I went in with an open mind on each visit.

“At Louisville, I liked how they had everything planned out. We went into the classroom of the majors we were taking. I sat down with who would tutor us, and I also sat down with their defensive line coach, coach (Mark) Hagen. We went over some film, and we chopped it up. I really like the city. The school is small in attendance size, but the city is big. The city pours into the school. I feel that would be good for me.”

Penn State: “Penn State was good. It is a big football school with a lot of traditions like the White Out. I loved it up there. It is a quiet place outside of the football season. It is pretty smooth there. They took us to where the players hang out. That same weekend I went, it was commits week. We watched film; they went over how it would go and pulled me aside individually. They watched my game film telling me these type of plays will be acceptable here and what was not acceptable; I like how they kept it real.”

Kansas: “It was a very cool visit. Everyone was telling me there was nothing out there, but it wasn’t that bad. They said it was like Wakanda (Black Panther), nothing there but then when you get there everything opens up. They took us to coach (Lance) Leipold’s house; you can tell the players love being there. I talked to coach “P” (Jim Panagos), their defensive line coach. We broke down the film. They told me about the plan in place for me. I really like how he broke that down.”

Asked if a decision has been made, Porter replied, “Yes, I have made my decision.”

Porter continued, “I saw myself at all three schools, it came down to where I felt most comfortable with the players, the coaches, and everyone around the area. The city matters on the decision you make.”

Fans will find out where the Tampa Catholic prospect will play his college ball on Saturday, July 8, at noon eastern time via Instagram.
