Florida four-star DT D’Antre Robinson locks in one official, covers Miami visit

Defensive tackles with a collegiate body ready to contribute Day 1 are rare finds at the high school level. With that, 47 different teams have looked to Jones High School in Orlando seeking to bring D’Antre Robinson onboard. The Class of 2024 four-star still has outside interest coming in, but some of his focus heading towards summer official visits is narrowing.

The spring evaluation period could change Robinson’s perspective with blueblood programs heading to Orlando.

“There are some teams still showing interest,” Robinson said. “Ohio State, I still haven’t gotten Alabama, but they’ve been texting me a lot. I got Georgia. Oregon has been talking to me and so has Clemson. They all said they are going to come see me this spring. Kentucky, their d-line coach (Anwar Stewart) is going to come see me this spring.”

With all the offers, teams are still feverishly making their pitches to one of the best defenders in the country.

“Miami, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Auburn texts me a lot, and Georgia Tech texts and calls me a lot – everyone is hitting my phone a lot,” Robinson shared.

Proving he is still open to the process, Robinson has continued to take visits to find his next level fit.

“In March I went to Maryland, Kentucky, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Cincinnati, and I visited Howard and loved it.”

The Gators have let Robinson know he is one of their top priorities in the 2024 class.

“The Florida visit went very well,” Robinson stated. “I like their coaching staff. They say they need me and that I am their No. 1 defensive tackle-end on their list for 2024.”

Over in Tallahassee, the Seminoles are up front and honest with their approach to landing Robinson.

“Coach Odell (Haggins – DT) cuts straight to the point with me, he wants me there super-super bad,” Robinson shared. “When I am there, he wants to go over film and he’s introducing me to his d-linemen who are playing for him now; that was pretty cool.”

Down in South Florida, the Hurricanes are also making an effort to keep Robinson in-state for college. Miami hosted the four-star on Saturday.

“That visit went very well,” Robinson said. “I talked to coach Mario Cirstobal, I talked all the coaches, I watched them practice, did a campus tour; I saw everything really. It was really good.”

There is another handful of schools Robinson intends to see this spring.

“I want to check out Louisville, Texas A&M, Pitt, and Oklahoma,” Robinson stated. “I am supposed to go to Oklahoma before those other schools and to Georgia. Those schools are the ones I want to visit in April.”

The next round of visits Robinson is looking forward to are of the official variety.

“I have one official locked in right now, Texas,” Robinson shared.

A previous visit to Austin was successful getting the Longhorns locked in, and two personal referrals have helped Texas’ case.

“The Texas visit was one of my favorites,” Robinson said. “I felt at home. The players were showing me around; I had fun. I met everyone on the staff to the students. It felt like home when I was there. It was an awesome visit.”

Texas was victorious landing two prized recruits out of the Orlando area in the 2023 class, running back Cedric Baxter and offensive lineman Payton Kirkland. The freshmen are on campus going through spring ball with the Longhorns. The pair gave Robinson a personalized tour and shared their thoughts on the program.

“They were saying they love it,” Robinson shared. “Their coaching staff was telling me how Cedric will be starting next year. The players were telling me Texas is the place to be, they love the scheme, and everything about Texas.”

For all the programs trying to be one of the next four, Robinson listed some of the contenders for his other official visits.

“USC could be one, Florida, Miami, and Georgia,” Robinson stated. “Pitt could be a contender, Georgia Tech could be, Oklahoma, and Louisville could be a possible official visit. Those are some of the schools that could be possible official visits.”
