When holding as many offers as Anthony Carrie, at some point the difficult task of narrowing down all the options has to take place. The four-star tailback out of Carrollwood Day (Tampa, Fla.) has 50 scholarship options with three official visits set – the race for one of the best in the country is on.

Teams are keeping Carrie’s mobile phone buzzing.

“The teams reaching out the most are UNC (North Carolina), Notre Dame, South Carolina, Michigan State, and Ole Miss,” Carrie said.

Two key spring trips were taken, one to South Carolina.

“It was great,” Carrie shared. “It was great. I got to watch them practice, it was pretty cool.”

Carrie continued speaking about the Gamecocks’ offense, “I thought it was good, especially with the change at offensive coordinator. In the running back room, they can use some guys, especially after losing MarShawn Lloyd.”

The trek from Florida to East Lansing was made this spring.

“That was smooth,” Carrie stated. “I was able to see them practice, see how things are ran, see their running backs and see how they are coached; that was great.”

Another unofficial visit may be added to the travel plans.

“I may unofficially go to Ole Miss,” Carrie said.

Asked what is important for him to experience and/or do if he visits Oxford, Carrie replied, “That would be my first time there, I just want to see the place.”

Three teams have cemented time with Carrie this summer.

“I have set an official with Notre Dame on June 9, UNC on June 16, and Michigan State on June 23,” Carrie shared.

The Fighting Irish bring more than a rich history to the conversation for Carrie.

“What they bring to the table is super direct, great academics and their style of play,” Carrie stated. “They are super run heavy.”

The Tar Heels are multidimensional as well.

“The track record they have with running backs and their academics are great,” Carrie shared.

The possibility of taking other paid for trips is contingent on when Carrie makes a decision.

“It all depends on if I am committed before the season,” Carrie said. “If I am committed, I probably won’t take more official visits. It just depends.”

Asked what will separate that one school over the others, Carrie gave a quick and honest response, “I’m not sure yet.”
