The Florida Gators added to their recruiting riches on Friday landing in-state 4-star wide receiver Freddie Swain out of North Marion High School.

Swain has been a difference maker on the field since his sophomore season after pulling down 25 passes for 581 yards with six scores. The 6’1”, 185 pound, speedster had a breakout junior campaign hauling in 52 passes for 841 yards with another six touchdowns.

As one can imagine, the recruiting buzz on Swain has been high with at least 25 programs extending offers. Among the many hoping to sway Swain out of Citra include USC, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Michigan, South Carolina, LSU, Kentucky, Clemson, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Georgia.

The recruiting interests for Swain has not let up with the senior on track for his best season yet posting a stat line of 22 passes caught for 361 yards with two touchdowns helping the Colts to a 6-0 start. Swain could also be a threat in the punt return game for the Gators with 202 yards in five games.

Florida landed Swain in a recruiting battle against USC, a school he visited over the summer and has an official visit date set for Nov. 27, Georgia, a school he camped at in July, Tennessee, with an official visit date set for Nov. 7, and Miami, with a previous official visit date of Oct. 17 set.

Depending on how Florida head coach Jim McElwain utilizes some of the talent verbally committed to his class once on campus, the Gators could have as many as five new receivers when the 2016 season begins. In addition to Swain, the other receivers include Josh Hammond, Isaiah Johnson, Rick Wells, and receiver/defensive back Jayvaughn Myers.

Florida now has 21 verbal commits to their 2016 recruiting class. One can expect the Gators to push on landing a couple of defensive tackles if possible. That is one area Florida has yet to land a commitment in the current class.
