Florida Lands Alabama Class of 2016 Safety Jeawon Taylor over Auburn

Written by Ryan Wright

The Florida Gators have pulled a couple of recruiting coups so far in the 2016 recruiting class and another one took place on Wednesday when they pulled Jeawon Taylor out of the state of Alabama.

Taylor spent the 2014 season all over the field for Park Crossing High School coming up with 91 tackles, 12 pass deflections, four interceptions, three tackles for a loss, and one sack.

The Thunderbirds went 7-3 last season and colleges throughout the region fell in love with the Montgomery area’s talents. So far Taylor has received offers from Ole Miss, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, and Arkansas State among others. Taylor was considered a heavy Auburn after the Tigers hosted the prized safety at least four times during the offseason. That lean was nullified after an unofficial visit to the Gainesville campus on Aug. 1.

Taylor made the announcement official on Twitter posting, “Blessed to say I am officially committed to the University of Florida. #DBU #BDN.”

Florida now has 20 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class and appear set in the secondary with three corners, Chauncey Gardner, Aaron Robinson, and Christopher McWilliams, and two safeties, Quincy Lenton and Taylor.
