The recruiting trail has been hot for the Gators since late May with eight verbal commitments. The latest verbal came from highly sought after in-state cornerback Marco Wilson.

Wilson earned his recruiting stripes playing for Florida 3A powerhouse American Heritage. With Wilson locking down wide receivers over the past two seasons, the Stallions have posted an 11-2 and 10-3 mark earning the right to be considered one of the top teams in the state.

Colleges across the country were impressed with Wilson’s playmaking abilities bestowed with a reported 30 offers. Some of the many hoping to get Wilson’s signature on National Signing Day includes Alabama, Clemson, Arkansas, Georgia, Colorado, Ohio State, Auburn, North Carolina, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.

Miami, USC, and Florida appeared to be among Wilson’s leaders heading into his commitment after taking unofficial visits to all three campuses in the off-season. Wilson kept his announcement on Twitter simple posting, “COMMITTED #SWAMP17 #GATORGANG.”

Wilson’s commitment to Florida was not a big surprise. His half-brother, Quincy Wilson, is a corner for the Gators.

Florida now has 13 verbal commitments earning a ranking by Rivals as the No. 15 class in the nation. Of the 13 commits, eight are considered four-star talents.
